(Shakopee, MN) -- A Shakopee man accused of beheading his girlfriend has been ruled not guilty by reason of insanity by a judge. Alexis Saborit was initially found guilty of first-degree murder for the 2021 decapitation slaying of his girlfriend, America Thayer. However, at a recent hearing, a judge ruled that Saborit is not guilty by reason of insanity on the recommendation of psychologists. The decision was made on the basis that Saborit was too paranoid and delusional to understand what he did was morally wrong.
